Partnerships are one of the many ways we can help make cycling accessible to all. Our most recent collaboration was with an organization we can’t wait to tell you about — The Road Home. They’re a local nonprofit dedicated to ending family homelessness here in Madison, Wisconsin.
By building lasting relationships with families, The Road Home helps them find and maintain stable, affordable housing. It also provides a variety of services to build the skills, resources, and relationships that set the stage for long-term success. To accomplish their mission, The Road Home works with people, businesses, and other organizations throughout our local community. And that’s where Schwinn comes in.
We immediately recognized the importance of The Road Home's work and saw a way to support it. By donating bicycles and helmets, we could help The Road Home provide local families with transportation to work, school, grocery stores, and other places they need to go. So that’s exactly what we did.
"With bikes, families can save money and enjoy greater flexibility, reducing the stress of daily commutes."
THE ROAD HOME
After building the bikes and loading them into the Schwinn-mobile, we hit the road and made the special delivery. Here’s what the folks at The Road Home had to say about it:
Receiving bikes and helmets will significantly benefit families, offering them a more affordable and flexible transportation option. As one of our Housing Advocates shared, "Many families currently face the expensive choice between rideshares or time-consuming bus rides to work and school. With bikes, families can save money and enjoy greater flexibility, reducing the stress of daily commutes." Schwinn's generous donation not only provides transportation but also brings joy and freedom to these families.
We’re extremely grateful that we got the chance to partner with The Road Home and help out right here in our community. And we were excited to do it in May when we celebrate Bike Month along with millions of others across the country. While we look year-round for opportunities to bring cycling to more people, there’s no better time than Bike Month to demonstrate what bikes can do for us in terms of transportation, recreation, health, and happiness. We do it with special rides all month long, as well as with partnerships like this one.
At Schwinn, our commitment is to make cycling accessible to all. That means we foster a community where everyone is welcome to ride, and we work to bring that inclusive riding culture to everyone we possibly can. It’s our vision that everyone should be able to enjoy the joy and freedom of riding.
Together with The Road Home, we brought that vision a little closer to reality right here in Madison.
